I can’t believe I missed this one. It captures my boys from this colony perfectly! Awww!
Serious protein session.
So, you have two twin sets and a single..how do you tell em apart?!
Easy! When you spend as much time as your rats as me you just get to know them, even noticing slight differences in facial structure even when they’re related (people probably think I’m crazy haha). In this particular colony though it gets even better, 3 agouti brothers, 2 hooded agouti brothers, & 3 pews! Plus the black & a champagne.
The agouti hoodeds are easy based on their hoods alone, however one of them (Hitler) is desexed, a lot smaller & softer, while Stanley (other hooded boy) is the biggest rat of the litter, he is rediculously, noticeably bigger than any of the others, even though on the same diet & all that, same husbandry.
The 3 agouti boys are easy as well, because Brian is desexed, so slightly smaller & softer than the other 2. I can usually just tell it’s him cause his coat is less rough. Bruce is a berkshire, so I just have to pick him up to confirm it’s him. Finally Terry is a self & he’s slightly larger, so it makes it easier hahah.
The PEW’s give me a bit of trouble, but to be honest now that I keep so many rats & have them all running up to me at once instead of being ‘Hi Brucey!’ it’s more of a ‘HI BUBBIES!!’ *must scritch everyone evenly* hahah.
Literally, everyone has become a ‘bubbie’. That makes it a lot easier. If the people I know in real life heard the way I talked to my rats.. lol!
You should see my girls, 5 agoutis & a cinnamon, that’s even more fun!
